Trump administration officials strip Compass psilocybin from FDA fast-track voucher list

Compass Pathways plc (CMPS) — STAT reported that senior HHS and White House officials blocked FDA Commissioner Marty Makary's plan to grant COMP360 psilocybin a Commissioner's National Priority Voucher, which promised a compressed 1-2 month review; of ten proposed drugs, psilocybin was the only one vetoed.

COMP360 retained its Breakthrough Therapy Designation and rolling-review eligibility, so the core approval pathway was intact, but the episode signaled political sensitivity around psychedelics. The decision was later reversed in April 2026 when the FDA did issue Compass a priority voucher.
