A grassroots effort called Decriminalize California is seeking to pass a citizens’ initiative to decriminalize psilocybin mushrooms for personal, medical, therapeutic, spiritual, and religious uses.

With over 1,000 volunteers in 58 counties, the California Psilocybin Decriminalization Initiative must get about 625,000 signatures to qualify for the ballot. For decriminalization to succeed on the ballot, it must have a simple majority of the vote (50% plus one vote).

The vision of the California Psilocybin Decriminalization is to provide people the opportunity to explore mental processes, cognition, and consciousness. This movement believes in the transformative power of mind-expanding substances to help guide us to a better future

If California decriminalizes psychedelics in November it will be a monumental moment for psychedelics. Decriminalization on the state level could start the domino effect in other states that could lead to the federal legalization of psychedelics.
