Those that couldn’t attend the Investor Hotseat event with Awakn ($AWKN) CEO Anthony Tennyson missed out on some key information regarding the company’s position, runway, pipeline, and outlook. Because there was so much to unpack in the interview, we’ve decided to summarize some of the key takeaways.

Awakn Does Two Things Well

Research and Development

Awakn has multiple R&D work streams. And to de-risk their investments, they are active across three compounds, and multiple addictions. They also are involved in clinical-stage research and preclinical stage research.

Commercialization

The second thing that Awakn does is commercializing therapeutics. They are doing that through two revenue streams. One is clinics, which are operational in the UK and Norway. And the second is more traditional therapeutics commercialization where they’ll pack up everything they do, and add licenses to the addiction treatment industry – particularly in the US for now.

Awakn is Laser-Focused on Treating Addiction

With 20% of humans suffering from some sort of addiction (that’s 1.3 billion people), there is a massive opportunity for Awakn’s work to help a lot of people in the future.

After all, Awakn’s team has successfully conducted the world’s only clinical trials of ketamine and MDMA in a therapeutic setting as treatments for alcohol use disorder.
