Texas awards $50 million for public ibogaine clinical trial consortium

UTHealth Houston / UTMB Health (State of Texas) — UTHealth Houston and UTMB Health were awarded $50 million from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to lead the IMPACT consortium, a two-year multicenter trial evaluating ibogaine for addiction, traumatic brain injury and other behavioral-health conditions.

Authorized under Senate Bill 2308 and joined by a broad group of Texas universities and hospitals, it represents the largest publicly funded psychedelic research initiative to date and aims to pursue FDA-approved trials with drug-developer and hospital partners.
